This project is called the Mini Maycomb project. We are reading To Kill A Mockingbird and the setting of this novel is in Maycomb county. We worked in partners, and my partner was Josh C. We didn't really have any problems working as a pair, and I think we worked very diligently. For this project we were all assigned to recreate a little object. The object that I had to recreate was of a little house made of paper and tape. This house was very messily made. My partner and I decided to make our house out of foam core to make our house sturdier. We also decided to make it bigger than the original object to enhance the craftsmanship of it. We made our house the Ewell's house, we did this by adding trash all over the front and back yard.
I thought this project was very effective because it really taught me how to create things with foam core, because I never really used this material before this project.
I think my partner and I were overall very successful with this project. The house turned out as we visualized to to, and I think our use of different materials for the trash such as paperclips really enhanced our house.
At first, we tried creating our house using push pins to hold all of the sides together, however this was probably our biggest struggle because it didn't work for us. The push pins would work until the holes in the foam core stretched out and so the push pins would slip and no longer hold everything together. We overcame this by giving up on push pins and instead hot glueing the sids together. My partner and I worked very productively because we never really got off topic, and we tried many different ways to make the house. I think next time we could of spent more time on the detail of the house and less time on how to create the house.
I really enjoyed this project and found it very effective, and so I wouldn't change anything about it.
1. Provide a picture or the actual final product from this project.
2. Who was in your group? What was it like working with this group?
3. What did you make in this project? What are a few things you learned?
4. What went well in this project?
5. What struggles did you have and how did you overcome them?
6. What things did you do well concerning work ethic and what could you improve on?
7. How would you change this project?
