The Belmont Park Mini-Project is where we went to Belmont park and had to draw a sketch and create a short story or poem following the tracks of the roller coaster.
For this project we worked in threes, I worked with Alejandra and Jacob. All of us have different strength and weaknesses, so at first it was hard to come up with ideas together. Eventually we started to understand each other, for ex. Alejandra is really talented at art, so we made sure she was in charge of all the drawings.
For this project we created one short story, one poem, and one sketch of the roller coaster. We were each in charge of one of these and I was in charge of creating the poem. we combined all of our products by putting it on a poster and decorating it accordingly. Then, each of the groups in the class took turns presenting to each other. After doing this project I definitely learned more about my group members. Since our groups for this mini project is going to be our groups for the actual roller coaster project, I think this was a good way for us to understand how each of us work.
I think what went the best for us, was how we used our resources. We asked Ms. Carol for things such as glue sticks, construction paper, poster paper etc. we also used our time really well. This is because we worked effectively during class. A struggle that we had was that none of us communicated over the weekend, and so when it came to monday (when this mini project was due) we just had to hope that all of us did our part at home. We ended up still being very successful with this project, but next time we will make sure to communicate if needed.
I think we worked very diligently on the monday that it was due (we were given some time), but next time we should definitely have most if not all of the work done on the due date. I think it was hard for us to come up with ideas, and so that is what was the hardest for my group.
I don't know if it was just my group, but we were a little confused on what we were supposed to do. I think if I could change this project I would clear things up and make sure everyone thoroughly understood what exactly they were supposed to do before we were free to work.
